Merry Christmas season, dear friends!
It always kicks into high gear the day after Thanksgiving here at the Alayra house. The girls and I crank the tunes and make a royal mess tearing open bins of decorations and figuring out where to put everything. A couple of days later I manage to put everything in order and the house is set for the season. We try to slow down and drink in this special time...but every year it blows by in a blink.
I want so much to find moments to stop and ponder the miracle of Christmas. Christ has come! We are so blessed to be living on this side of the coming of the Messiah, where we celebrate that He has come! I've often wondered what that was like for all those generations who waited...and waited...and waited. Some are still waiting because they don't recognize Jesus Christ for who He is! As the prophet Isaiah predicted hundreds of years before His coming:
"For unto us a child is born,
To us a Son is given
And the government will be upon HIs shoulders
And He will be called Wonderful Counselor,
Mighty God
Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace" (Isaiah 9:6)That's our Messiah! What an inconceivable gift He is to us--God's own Son, the giver of forgiveness, hope and eternal life! Please, oh, please don't let this truth slip by during these precious days of this blessed season. Let it sink in. To US He was given. What a gift! May we celebrate Him! We can do that in a thousand ways, but at the center of our joy and worship...there He should be. Because this season is from Him, through Him, and to Him. To Him be the glory forever, amen! Enjoy this season, friends! Love, Jana
