Dear friends,
"You are looking for Jesus the Nazarene who was crucified. He is risen! He is not here! See the place where they laid Him." (Mark 16:6)
He is risen! What wonderful words these are--the greatest news the world has ever received. The fact that Jesus Christ was crucified (something to truly contemplate on Good Friday) and then rose from the dead as He promised legitimizes everything He said about Himself being the Son of God, the "I AM." It sets Him apart from every other prophet, priest and king who every will live. If He had not conquered death and purchased eternal life, then our faith would be a joke. Our hope would be empty.
But HE IS RISEN! He is risen indeed! And He is alive! This is what we celebrate on Easter! I pray that we do celebrate this greatest news! As we join in with the family of God in worship and with our extended families, may we celebrate in our hearts what this means to us! As we dress up in our Easter "best" (meaning your un-ripped jeans for some), with every basket filled and egg hunted for, every ham lovingly prepared...may we remember it is because our Lord Jesus defeated death itself for us and has given the gift of eternal life to all who believe in His name.
